Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony/Starbright Village Opening
The Christmas season starts with the City of Odessa’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, November 29 at McKinney Park, 625 West Pool Road.
Entertainment starts at 5:30 p.m. and the ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. Mayor David Turner will flip the switch to light up the City’s 50 foot tall Christmas tree, school choirs will fill the air with the sounds of Christmas carols, hot chocolate will be served and Santa Claus is planning a special visit.
The Tree Lighting Ceremony also serves as the opening of Starbright Village, a winter wonderland of lighted Christmas scenes. Patrons can walk, or drive, through an amazing array of twinkling lights and sparkling displays. Dozens of displays create an amazing and awe-inspiring scene, unparalleled in West Texas.
Starbright Village is open 6 to 11 nightly between November 29 and New Year’s Day at McKinney Park, 625 West Pool Road.
Included at Starbright Village is Santa Land, which as Santa’s home away from home while visiting with children at Starbright Village. Visitors can meet the Jolly Old Elf at Santa Land between 7 and 9 p.m. every Friday and Saturday beginning November 30 through December 21.
Everyone is encouraged to come out and join the Christmas fun. All events are free to the public, but donations are greatly appreciated to help keep the ‘Bright’ in Starbright Village.
